 What kinds of tapes do you transcribe?Tape cassettes (regular size and micro), VHS tapes, DVDs, CD-Roms, digital formats such as wav, avi, RealPlay, MP3s, others. How much would an hour of tape recording cost to transcribe?We charge by the page. Our lowest rate starts at $2.50 per page for a single speaker (see rates page). An hour of tape can yield from 30-45 double-spaced pages. Call us for an estimate of your work. Is there an extra charge for transcribing VHS or DVD? Yes. There is an extra charge of $10 per VHS tapes or DVD for transferring the audio portion. Why would it take 3 hours to transcribe an hour of tape if it's only 1 hour?A person speaks about 180-250 words per minute, while a transcriptionist can transcribe about 8 to 12 pages an hour, depending upon the quality of the tape. Speeches and interviews are easier to transcribe than focus groups or business meetings. How do you deliver transcripts?Transcripts are e-mailed as a Word document attachment. Do you pick up tapes or other media?Please send your tapes or other media by messenger, FedEx or any secure courier service. Can I e-mail you our digital recording for transcription?Yes, upload your digital recording to our secure server or provide us the link from your own site or ftp. Or send to our office the tapes, VHS, DVDs or CD-ROMs by courier, FedEx, UPS, or other method. Remember, you cannot attach to an e-mail 5 minutes or more of recording. Do you return our tapes or media back?No, please send us copies. Yes, if you make pre-paid return arrangement via self-addressed pre-paid FedEx or DHL. We do not return via the Post Office. We are not responsible for your tapes or media after 30 days of job completion if you did not make any prior arrangements before the job is finished. |
